This poignant and darkly humorous play by Scott McPherson centers around Bessie, a woman who has been caring for her ailing father for twenty years.  When Bessie is diagnosed with leukemia, she must reconnect with her estranged sister Lee and her troubled teenage nephew Hank.  The family navigates complex emotions and past grievances, ultimately finding moments of reconciliation and unexpected love.

Characters (ages are approximate):

BESSIE: 40 years, the primary caregiver of Marvin and Ruth
DOCTOR WALLY: 55-60, Bessie's physician who provides her with medical support
RUTH: 70 years, Bessie's eccentric aunt who lives with Bessie and Marvin
BOB: Dr. Wally's brother and receptionist
LEE: Late 30s, Bessie's estranged sister, a single mother struggling with her own issues
DOCTOR CHARLOTTE, a psychiatrist that treats Hank
HANK: Lee's 17-year old son that has been in a mental institution
CHARLIE: Hank's younger brother who is shy and withdrawn
